So I am actually seeing my pace increase with this low heart rate training!
It’s still pretty slow, but I’m hoping to soon be at a reasonable 9-10 min/mile pace at this HR. It’s nice to see an improvement after only 4 weeks and running only 3-4 days/week. When I first started I was around 12 min/mile which was excruciatingly slow.
And the best part is my body feels great. I don’t feel exhausted or on the brink of an injury like I have in the past when I was training faster and at a higher HR. I am really curious how all of this will translate into race times next spring….it’s difficult to be this patient!

That’s the point of LSD isn’t it? Glad to see you’re making progress.
I’m a big believer in the concept that for most of us, any training, at any level, will increase fitness over the long run.
I would expect that you’ll continue to see your pace increase as your average heart rate comes down… fitness gains abound! Hooorah!

Ha, yeah I guess that is the point of LSD! My LSD pace was always much faster than this in the past though… (was likely not aerobic). I never really based it on my HR like I am now, so it is cool to see real data showing progress at the same HR. Makes progress tangible which is motivating!
