Almost Pain-Free 8-Miler!

Did an 8-mile run today which will be my last run of this distance or more until the Vancouver Half Marathon next weekend.  My foot injury seemed to hold up mostly ok today which gives me hope!  I’m going to take it relatively easy this week with running in hopes that it will be A-OK next Sunday.  I’m definitely not prepared for this race like I want to be due to this nagging injury, but I’m going to take it on anyway.  I have forgotten about my original goal of running a 1:45 or under, and have since revised it to just finishing healthy and not doing anymore damage to my foot.  I have promised myself that I will not be too proud to pull out of the race if I am in pain…I know that would be a tough decision as I am pretty stubborn and have a tendency to run through the pain.  The last thing I want though is to do more damage which would cause me to miss my first ever Half Ironman in less than 10 weeks.

You definiately want to take care of yourself - after all this is the only body we have (now granted you do have TWO feet-it would be difficult, however, at best to ambulate with only one). I like the attitude of the race as a “training race” almost for the Ironman 70.3. Keep that in mind when you are running.

Good luck!!

wishing you luck this weekend in BC; don’t push too hard on the feet–save it for July.
